Wednesday 4th (I think)
We have had a great day.
We had breakfast in the hotel - it was all kinds of breads and buns, cereals, boiled eggs, cold meats and cheeses etc coffe or tea and juices.
The team had to weigh in and register so next on the agenda was finding the venue where the competition is being held. Hotel staff said it would be about a half hour walk and showed us on a map how to get there. We arrived at that location with no major problems but it wasn't the right one! It was in fact a vocational school and luckily we found someone that one enough English to get us back on track. It wasn't much further.
The team got registered and we met up with another team member James and his parents. This family are from Davidson and have been here a couple of extra days. They have figured out the bus. So this was our next adventure. We rode the bus back downtown and then bought passes so that we can ride the bus all week all around Bregenz. The walk was ok but the bus will be easier for the team with all their equipment.
Our group has now grown from the nine we had and includes James and his parents Michele and Stuart so we are up to twelve. We bought tickets to ride a boat across the end of Lake Constance. It was thought that the boys should have some real food rather than the candy they had been eating. You will have to wait for the picture to see what they ate!
We took the twenty five minute ride across the lake to the beautiful little town of Lindau, Germany. Some were disappointed that we did not have to go through customs so no passport stamp!
We walked out to the light house in the harbour. It was a great view from the top. We then wandered around the quaint cobbled streets. We saw some beautiful old buildings, bought a few souvenirs and fed some birds. We knew the last boat back was 8pm so we had time to stop in Germany for supper.
It was just starting to get dark as we came back on the boat so we has beautiful views of a different kind.
Now we are back at the hotel relaxing after a great day. Coaches and referees meetings tomorrow.
